THE NEXT "BIG" IDEA

So here we are again. The bright blessed days have cooled to a crisp, delicious degree and the Holidays are upon us.

November. At last!

Time for thanks and Thanksgiving. And yet, at the risk of sounding like a broken record (Although, come to think of it, there are VERY few "records" being made nowadays, so maybe I should "evolve" and rephrase that to "a broken download"?) Don't we have every reason in the world to be profoundly thankful every day?

And, let's be honest ...if you are reading this article you already own property in the Land of the Free, better yet -- Southern Coastal California, --and even BETTER, in glorious Rancho Santa Fe.

At our beloved Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club we are surrounded by staff and volunteer committees that knock themselves out on a regular basis to create "Heaven on Earth" in oh-so-many ways. So here's an idea. Let's all adopt a "BIG idea". Let's all start approaching each an every experience at our Club with an intention of sharing Blessings, Inspiration and Gratitude. Get it? B-I-G.

It's elementary, really. And it will transform every event, large or small that you experience here (...or anywhere for that matter!)

This month we have one of my all time favorite events on Thanksgiving morning. The cherished "Victor Mature Turkey Shoot". If you have never attended, for overtly "mature" reasons like needing to prepare for a stress-laden Thanksgiving fete, let me assure you that you are missing out on pure bliss. It's the true reason for Thanksgiving, all wrapped up in the disguise of a golf (and jousting) match between the pro shop folks verses the outside staff. And Lordy, can these people play golf! The gallery, and their assorted pets and visiting family members gather at 8, joyously indulging on decadent donuts, steaming coffee and not-too- much later, Bartender Eddie's world renowned Bloody Mary's and who knows what else. There is jeering, joking, betting and shenanigans galore. I could ramble on and on about the glories of this event, but it is the epitome of why the "B-I-G idea" should be at the heart of all us - lucky Club members.

And on the subject of Thanksgiving, some of the women golfers got a taste of Chef Joey's Thanksgiving recipes at a recent Par 3 golf tournament. Without any hyperbole, his Turkey-Day meal was out of this world. Creative spice pairings with authentic recipe choices and exciting in every way! So here is your perfect reason for skipping the stress of cooking altogether and making a reservation for Thanksgiving at the Club for sometime AFTER you have gone home for a much-needed post-Turkey Shoot nap! (Eddie's Bloodies pack a powerful punch!)

The weekend after the Thanksgiving festivities we launch into the Tree Lighting Ceremony and all sorts of Holiday glee. The staff and the committees have planned a blockbuster bevy of events to celebrate the season and ring in the New Year. All you have to do is show up and shine. Consider it your way of giving Blessings, being an Inspiration and showing Gratitude.
